User-Centric Innovation: Demonstrating Our MIS to Malawi Bureau of Standards

Gertrude Mwakikunga, Deputy Director of Quality Assurance Services at MBS during the session

As part of our ongoing commitment to developing impactful, user-driven digital solutions, we recently hosted a demonstration of our new Management Information System (MIS) currently under development for the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS).

We brought together staff from various MBS branches and departments to give them a hands-on experience with the system. This MIS is designed to support MBS’s critical mandate of promoting quality standards in Malawi. Once complete, it will streamline how MBS manages applications for certificates, standards, permits, inspections, and product certifications. It will also simplify approvals, integrate payment processing, and generate secure electronic documents to prevent falsification.

This wasn’t just a showcase of technology, it was a conversation. Our technical team walked MBS staff through the system’s modules, demonstrated the core features, and gathered valuable feedback. We believe that engaging end-users early in the process ensures that the final product truly works for them. That’s why collaboration is at the heart of how we build software.

During the session, Gertrude Mwakikunga, Deputy Director of Quality Assurance Services at MBS, shared her optimism about the system’s potential, highlighting its ability to transform how MBS manages and delivers its responsibilities. She also acknowledged Idias Corporation’s hands-on and inclusive approach, noting that it inspired confidence in the system’s alignment with MBS’s operational needs.

This moment marked a significant step in MBS’s digital transformation—and a proud milestone for us. It reinforced the importance of building solutions with people, not just for them. We’re excited to continue this journey with MBS and look forward to delivering a final system that empowers their work and improves public service delivery in Malawi.
